About Us
RT42 was set up to help real tennis players and clubs all over the world share their knowledge and spread the word of the game. It is a collaborative effort within the real tennis community internationally and we are very receptive to external comments, ideas and suggestions.
Editorial Board:
Colm O’Shea – Colm, a former Hedge Fund manager, joined with three of his real tennis enthusiast friends to buy and run their local club, Holyport, in 2013.
Nick Jones – an engineer and formerly in construction, Nick was the managing director of Seacourt Tennis Club for 8 years from 2005 and was chair of Tournaments & Fixtures for the T&RA from 2010 to 2014.
Rob Fahey – Rob is unparalleled in his real tennis achievements in the modern era. He has been World Champion for a total of over 20 years. He also brings his breadth of experience as a club professional all over the world starting at Hobart and currently Head Professional at The Oratory. Rob is also chairman of the IRTPA.
We are also pleased to have Tim Edwards on board. Tim has taken the bulk of the photos used on this site and is also responsible for the project of photographing all the courts for our club pages.
Our Vision
One of the websites that inspired us is oxfordcroquet.com and we challenge you to find a more comprehensive website about a single sport.
Built up over 20+ years, Oxford Croquet is sure to have the answer to any croquet questions you may have.
This is what RT42 aspires to. Over time we hope to build upon our foundations and to provide answers to questions about all things real tennis. We want to collaborate with the whole tennis community, and welcome comments and suggestions to help us achieve our goal.
So if you have expertise about the aerodynamics of a real tennis ball, we want to hear from you. If you know about the coefficient of friction and can explain how cut works differently on different floor and wall surfaces, we want to hear from you. Or if you can explain why some courts favour a railroad and others favour a giraffe, we want to hear from you.
Or perhaps your field is more arts than science and you want to spread your knowledge about real tennis in Germany. Perhaps you’ve recently discovered a painting with a real tennis racket in the background you want to share. Or maybe you’ve written a real tennis themed poem and don’t know where to post it. In all three cases and more, we want to hear from you!
The real tennis world is full of expertise from myriad fields. We want to draw upon and share your knowledge about anything and everything you can think of. In RT42 you will find an ally in spreading knowledge of every kind, so please, use us and help us provide material for the tennis world at large.
