The Court
Real tennis courts are longer than lawn tennis courts, wider than a singles court, and narrower than doubles.
All courts look a little different, and there is no uniform size. They are a similar shape to a lawn tennis court in many ways, although the sloping roof around three sides is unique.
Real tennis courts are on average 9.5m wide which compares with lawn tennis’s 8.23m and 10.97m width for singles and doubles respectively. And a lawn tennis court is 23.77m long, while real tennis courts are usually about 29m long (not including the sloping roof). Thankfully drop shots in real tennis are almost impossible and so there isn’t too much running to and from the net!
